JYC Racing FAQ

The first thing you should do is obtain a PHRF certificate. You can do that online at www.phrfne.org. If you'd like assistance with the application, email admin@jycracing.org and our fleet handicapper will contact you.

Next, you need to register and pay for racing. When registration is open, the link can be found on our home page.

We also offer "One night of free racing" if you want to try it out, just email admin@jycracing.org.
Yes! Simply sign up for our fleet email list. Notifications about postponements, cancellations, and events are sent via email. Skippers and crew are encouraged to join. The link to join can be found on our home page.
Feel free to email admin@jycracing.org and a committee member will contact you. During the off-season, meetings are occasionally held to encourage participation. Join the fleet email list to receive updates.
Not a problem. Contact the RC at admin@jycracing.org. A member of the Regatta Committee will help you get started and answer any questions.
Both documents are available on this site. Go to the "Thursday Series" menu at the top of the page and select the document you want.
Any member of the race committee will help you find a ride. Come to the Jubilee Yacht Club dock any Thursday by 5 PM. Skippers are often looking for crew and crew is in high demand. If you are enthusiastic, willing to listen, and work well on a team, you will be welcome.
First Gun is at 1810. Races usually start at G13 or G15 off Hospital Point, but the committee boat may relocate depending on wind. Hail the race committee on Channel 72 if you are unable to see the boat.
The RC is available on Channel 72. Please avoid calling during start sequences. Information about delays, course changes, or abandoning is transmitted as needed.
Courses are signaled with placards on a rack at the stern of the boat. Each character corresponds to a mark in the Sailing Instructions. The T flag indicates the course is twice around.
At 5, 4, 1, and 0 minutes of each start sequence, the horn sounds. The Sailing Instructions include a graphic explaining timing and signals per RRS 26.
